Germany’s longest established orchestra’s performances drip with a sense of inherited tradition, leading Richard Strauss to name it ‘the best orchestra in the world’. This concert includes music by composers with whom the orchestra was associated: the grandeur and warmth of Brahms’ First Symphony and the grace and charm of Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations.
