The Festival closes with the traditional performance by the SMP, the local area’s foremost chamber orchestra. This Gala concert, attended by the Patron of the Festival, The Mayor of Guildford Councillor Pauline Searle, will include Beethoven Overture Fidelio, Haydn Symphony No. 49 – La Passione, Elgar Sea Pictures and Schumann Spring Symphony. Joining the orchestra in the Elgar Sea Pictures will be the international contralto, Emma Curtis, who has taken operatic roles in the UK, USA and Europe under conductors such as McGegan, Bicket, Pinnock, Adès and William Christie.
