Imagine a dialogue between East and West. By playing Arabic rhythms through a Western filter this unique combination have created a sound that begs adjectives: dramatic. Uplifting. Delicate. Powerful. Following universal acclaim for the eponymous album and a much praised live set at Womad 2010, the band of takes to the road in 2011 for the next chapter in the ever evolving Syriana. Originators Nick "Dubulah" Page and Syrian Qanun player, Abdullah Chhadeh, are joined by Palestinian/Jordanian virtuoso oud player and singer Nizar Al Issa; Algerian violinist Mounir Baziz (aka Violin Moon); and Palestinian percussionist Iba Abu Khalaf, bringing the music to life on stage. This five piece live band are complemented by projections put together by Italian-born filmmaker Niccolo Piazza and backing tracks featuring the Pan Arab Strings of Damascus.
