Dance, theatre, spoken word and song by Alesandra Seutin with live music by Ayanna Witter-Johnson. This is not Black is the journey of a mixed-raced woman down memory lane, a winding road between Europe and Africa. As perceptions of her change from place to place, she plays with masks, roles and attitudes, highlighting the idea that what you see is not always what you get. Alesandra Seutin was born in Harare, raised in Brussels and trained in London, where she has made her residence. She is the Artistic Director of Vocab Dance Company. Established in 2007, the company is renowned for its multidisciplinary and outspoken works, creating distinctly Afro-European dance theatre. In 2011, Alesandra Seutin was selected by icon Germaine Acogny ?mother of African contemporary dance', to be part of the transmission of her technique. Alesandra is now the only UK dance artist to be a certified Germaine Acogny teacher and ambassador. A post-show Q&A session with Alesandra Seutin and Ayanna Witter-Johnson takes place after this performance. Hosted by Funmi Adewole.
