Anatomy of an Afternoon is described by Australian Stage Online as 'Beauty, precision and thoughtful art... An unforgettable experience.' Paul White is one of the dance world's most exciting performers and the recent winner of the UK National Dance Award for Outstanding Modern Performer for Meryl Tankard's The Oracle. His performance is a stunning re-imagining of Vaslav Nijinsky and the Ballets Russes legendary ballet L'Apres-midi d'un Faune (The Afternoon of a Faun), which premiered in 1912 Tapping into the radical spirit of this modernist masterpiece, it translates its enigmatic power and allure into the 21st century. Veering between animalistic grace and menace, White's body is in constant transformation - sometimes languid, sometimes explosive, always unpredictable. This intimate new dance work is complemented by a haunting score from composer Mark Bradshaw (who composed the music for the acclaimed film of the life of John Keats, Bright Star) played live by a small ensemble, and combining field recordings and sound collage.
