What happens when two choreographers, famed for directing large groups of performers, rejoice in their love for their own dancing? In a repertoire of over 40 works, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker - an icon of contemporary dance - has never composed a duet in which she would dance herself. In Partita 2, a collaboration between herself and French choreographer and dancer Boris Charmatz, De Keersmaeker departs from her usual meticulous construction of dance, embracing the improvisatory instincts and whimsical flair of Charmatz. The piece is named for its score, from JS Bach, the structure and form of which De Keersmaeker reflects in this new choreography. Bach's composition is performed by violinist Amandine Beyer, whose physical presence on stage lends the dance a sense of humility and intimacy, enhancing Michel Fran?ois' bare and beautiful set design in this exciting new collaboration from two of the most exciting names working in dance today. UK Premiere. Running time: 1hr 5mins approx.
