Wild
Autumn leaves are for kicking, water is for splashing, pebbles are for skipping, sticks are for snapping, legs are for jumping, arms are for swinging, mouths are for laughing and voices are for singing. WILD is a leaping, laughing, somersaulting, participatory, dance-theatre performance for children aged 6 to 10, bringing together dance, physical storytelling, voice and percussion. Drawing on traditions of Eastern movement and inspired by the writings of Jay Griffiths, Gary Snyder and Ted Hughes. Created by artistic director/choreographer Apple Yang, children's author Chris Speyer and composer and children's music specialist Alan Boxer. We are all wild at heart, but in this age of virtual realities that taste of nothing, smell of nothing, offer no risks or real adventures, we are losing touch with our wild selves and the wild world around us. WILD is a journey back to wildness. Henry Travers Studio
