Leeds-based dance company. Ascendance perform a triple bill of explosive and clever new works by three distinguished choreographers. A diverse, powerful and engaging show performed by three of their finest and most physical dancers from a company with a reputation of subtle humour, entertaining and enjoyable dance. This show is guaranteed to leave you feeling fulfilled and inspired. 10 Short Dances - Created at Leeds City Art Gallery 10 Short Dances is an amalgamation of classical contemporary dance entwined with sheer emotion and lightness, set against the backdrop of projected imagery and film. Lines - Fast, energetic and precise. 'Lines' is set to captivating classical music, which crescendos in rock. The dancing is physically demanding and exciting to watch. A less realistic still life - Gary Clarke explores the work of Yorkshire Artist David Hockney and how his personal experiences have shaped his work. The piece looks at the ways in which Hockney's work differed and changed daily with a constant shift in mood, texture, and form from still life to the abstract. The evening will also feature the student piece choreographed at the local art gallery with Ascendance. Ascendance Dance Company - G&T - 10 Short Dances/Lines/A Less Realistic Still Life website.
