Ave Maya - a ballet Gala in memory of the legendary Russian ballerina Maya Plisetskaya who would have celebrated her 90th birthday in November 2015. The evening will be celebrating the life and the work of this extraordinary dancer who certainly was one of the greatest ballerinas of the 20th century and virtually the embodiment of the Bolshoi Theatre for decades. Ms. Plisetskaya was renowned for her fluidity of movement, expressive acting and definite personality. The Gala will feature excerpts from Ms Plisetskaya's favourite roles performed by leading star dancers of the Bolshoi, Mariinsky, Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, ballets of the Grand Opera Paris, Berlin Staatsoper, New York City Ballet and the Ballet of Monte Carlo who will be paying their tribute to the great ballerina.

Works by Alberto Alonso, Maurice Bejart and Roland Petit, who created roles for Maya Plisetskaya, will also be included in the tribute Gala which will be accompanied by the English National Ballet Philharmonic Orchestra. The evening is part of an annual Russian Ballet Icons Gala which was created in 2006 by Ensemble Productions to celebrate Plisetskaya's 80th birthday. The evening will be the biggest celebration of Plisetskaya's life outside Russia.
