The winners of the four categories: ballet, contemporary, South Asian dance and street dance, together with at least one wildcard, will dance in front of a panel of judges including Marc Brew, Kevin O'Hare, Kate Prince, Nahid Siddiqui, Kenneth Tharp and Jasmin Vardimon. 2015 - Grand Final - T01054494812The inaugural Grand Final of BBC Young Dancer comes to Sadler's Wells, with the UK's best young dancers performing for this prestigious award. Announced as part of BBC Arts, dancers aged 16-20 from all over the UK were invited to enter four categories: Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop and South Asian Dance. The winners of the Category Finals (to be shown on BBC Four) plus two additional candidates chosen by the judges, will dance at the Grand Final. Each dancer will premiere a new solo piece created especially for them by a leading young choreographer. They will also dance a solo, duet (pas de deux/battle) and an ensemble piece. The judging panel for the Grand Final features some of the leading names in British dance: Matthew Bourne, Akram Khan, Wayne McGregor, Tamara Rojo, Kenrick Sandy and Alistair Spalding. The Grand Final will be televised on BBC Two as part of the BBC's continuing commitment to the arts and support of new talent. BBC Young Dancer is part of BBC Four's 'Year of Song and Dance'. Contemporary Category Final - T2027162274The Category Finals of BBC Young Dancer 2015 come to The Riverfront, with the UK's best young dancers performing in this brand new award. Dancers aged 16-20 from all over the UK were invited to enter in four categories: Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop and South Asian Dance. We're down to five in each category and tonight it's the Contemporary dancers who will perform in front of a panel of judges for the Contemporary title and a place in the BBC Young Dancer Grand Final. Highlights of this performance will be shown on BBC Four in April as part the BBC's 'Year of Song and Dance'. There will be television cameras in the theatre. | |
