The brainchild of manager and record company head Miles Copeland, the Superstars are dedicated to elevating the art of bellydance to its rightful place among dance genres. Presenting a cross-section of tribal, Egyptian and 'cabaret' styles, the troupe performs solos, duets, and group pieces. The Bellydance Superstars and Desert Roses, the first professional touring dance troupe of its kind, is on its way to us after a very successful U.S. tour! The show is dedicated to elevating the art of bellydance to its rightful place among dance genres, and represents a cross section of Tribal, Egyptian and "Cabaret" styles. The unlikely impresario behind all of this is well -known rock n' roll manager and record company head, Miles Copeland. Having managed superstars such as The Police, Sting, The Bangles, and recorded acts like REM, Fine Young Cannibals, and the GoGo's, Copeland got into the world of bellydance as an off shoot of his world music record label, Mondo Melodia, which is the major distributor of Arab music in the U.S. Discovering an already existing base of interest in the art all across America, he put two and two together and decided the world was ready for a Middle Eastern Riverdance style show.
