This is an exciting collaboration between Bimba Dance Theatre and the National Dance Company of Jamaica resulting in a fusion of Caribbean and Indian myth, ritual and dance. In Mahabarata lore, Savitri woos Yama, God of Death, to save the life of her doomed husband Satyavan. As Savitri dances out her love and anguish, she transforms into Queenie, priestess of the Caribbean Wake Dance, and humanises Yama into her Satyavan.
