This spring, one of the world’s most influential contemporary dance companies makes its Welsh premiere. BJM Danse (formerly Ballet Jazz de Montreal) has a 40 year history of making entertaining, enjoyable dance that has earned them the nickname ‘the feel good company’ back home in Canada. BJM works with some of the most prestigious figures in the world of dance and contemporary ballet. For this Welsh tour, the company presents the work of New York based Canadian, Aszure Bartn in an evening of surprise, humour, and a touch of whimsy. Barton’s choreography is at once raw, feisty, and impetuous. In this programme, we get a taste of her intense musicality, with a soundtrack ranging from Vivaldi to Klezmer via Quebecois folk music and Gregorian chants. The 14-strong company of dancers will present two contrasting pieces.
