Carmen Cortes has been a ground-breaker in flamenco. One of the first to incorporate modern influences into her style, she is cited as one of today's most audacious female flamenco dancers. Recently, her production of Lorca's El Amor Brujo and Yerma, as well as her chef d'oeuvre Salome caused a sensation on Spain's flamenco circuit.
