Moham and Other Tales
Watermans is delighted to present Chitra Sundaram's
Moham and Other Tales, a stunning new work of solo Bharatanatyam dance-theatre. As one of the early contributors to Bharatanatyam in Britain, Chitra is a performer who is highly regarded both here and in India. A heart-wrenching Tevaram1 ballad provides the story for Moham. Tevarams are intensely passionate devotional songs to the god Siva composed by saint-poets between the 6-9th centuries. This particular one speaks of a young girl who leaves everyone, including her parents, and, everything, including her modesty and manners, when she discovers that she is madly in love with the Lord of Arur. This captivating evening will include a guest appearance by the accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, Anusha Subramanyam while Sangeetha Balasingham will play the role of the young girl in Moham.
