In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated - This work takes the athleticism of classical ballet techniques as its starting point, and pushes dancers to the limits of their technical and physical ability. A rapid, complex and highly energetic work, this one-act ballet is set to the frenetic synthesised rhythms of [Thom Willems]. It was first danced by The Royal Ballet in 1992. Por Vos Muero (For Thee I Die) - a portrayal of love and courtly manners wet to 16-century Spanish music based on a poem of the same name. Carmen - is from the Swedish choreographer [Mats Ek] who has taken the story made famous by [Bizet] and played with the original gender stereotypes, giving the heroine an almost masculine swagger and pathos and sentiment to the role of Don Jose.Company Royal Ballet.
