2 x 2 An Evening of Duets - Duel/Chairs/Sawn-off Scarface/The Self - T2120184532Award-winning Protein Dance will perform Duel, their first work from 1997, an upbeat and witty blend of dance theatre, music, language and high drama that is a bilingual exploration of competitive behaviour between an Italian man and a Swiss woman. The Royal Ballet's William Tuckett and Luke Heydon present a choreographic dialogue for two querulous friends and two chairs, hence the title Chairs. This playful piece is very funny and performed to a musical score of Bach and Beethoven. Welsh-based Eddie Ladd and Gerald Tyler's Sawn-off Scarface is a duet and (semi) ironic tribute to Scarface, Brian de Palma's notorious film starring Al Pacino. Performed to a short, tough synopsis of the plot, and on something close to a sticky, wet nightclub floor, the show is described as a 'meeting point for the small and the epic' and 'extraordinary fusion of film and live action performed breathtakingly'. The Self by Walker Dance and Park Music is an enchanting and dynamic duet combining Fin Walker's intricately detailed and exhilarating choreography with Ben Park's emotional composition which will be performed by live musicians on stage.Company Protein Dance. Loose in Flight/Zero/Can't Bark/Shirtology - T01663435844Loose in Flight - uses Kathak as the structural base, breaking out into lyrical passages of contemporary action. Khan's choreography is intelligent, compelling and beautiful to watch. Zero - A rare opportunity to see [Wayne McGregor] dance his solo work. Renowned for his lightning speed articulation and idiosyncratic movement language, this piece is both inventive and athletic. Can't Bark - is an energetic, eccentric and innovative solo examining the struggle of desire versus deed danced by [Adam Cooper]. Mixing both astute and amusing dancing Schynkel a former soloist with [Rambert Dance Company], creates a crazed surrealism of morals and theatrical magic. Shirtology - [Jerome Bel], born in France, has performed extensively across Europe and has been described as 'the thinking man's choreographer'. Shirtology, a work in three parts, mixes humour and cultural icons. It examines the bizarre reality between man and his clothing and the underlining absurdity of texts and logos.Choreographer Akram Khan (Loose in Flight). Choreographer Wayne McGregor (Zero). Choreographer Jan de Schynkel (Can't Bark). Choreographer Jerome Bel (Shirtology). Performer Adam Cooper. | |
