Steps in Time is in two parts. Imagine the stately courts of Europe where costumes were heavy and movement limited. Gradually lift the hem a little. Discard heeled shoes and bring in soft shoes. Introduce the male dancer. He supports and shows off his female partner. Now dispense with the frock coat and breeches and cut off the skirt. The result is long legs, pointe shoes, pirouettes, leaps and lifts. What follows is an explosion of style, energy, and diversity, which is dance in the 21st Century, and dance at The Dance School of Scotland.
