A three-day festival of events bringing together a diverse and surprising range of performances and experiences based around the senses. Sound, sight, smell, touch and taste are only the beginning - experience art, film, photography, dance, discussion and music through the most cutting edge multimedia work designed to unravel the contemporary nature of the senses and reveal the myriad of ways we connect with our world today. Taking place throughout the Royal Opera House and its surroundings, visitors will be able to enjoy free entrance to the festival featuring a new public artwork by Julian Opie, a commissioned video installation by Ravi Deepres, sound installations by Shirazeh Houshiary and Jane and Louise Wilson, a scent experience by Jo Malone with artist Cecilie Egeberg, chocolate tasting by Green and Blacks, scientific discoveries with leading neuroscientist Patrick Haggard, interactive performance installations by rAndom International and Ray Lee, a large scale new dance work by Wayne McGregor Random Dance, a multi-media music performance by Scanner with visual artist Sophie Clements alongside the latest in gaming from Blast Theory and Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parreno's acclaimed film Zidane: a 21st century portrait. Plus the chance to participate by contributing to Deloitte Ignite's digital exhibition. Each work will be located in the many public and performance spaces of the Royal Opera House allowing festival goers freedom to interact at their own pace with the abundant programme of events throughout each day. Every year Deloitte Ignite will be led by a high-profile guest curator with strong links to the Royal Opera House. This very first festival will be under the artistic direction of Wayne McGregor, Resident Choreographer of The Royal Ballet and one of the 21st century's most exciting dance talents. Wayne's wide-ranging interests and unique perspective have brought together a menu of events and performances - unpredictable, intriguing and up-to-the-moment - that reveal new and surprising angles on the Royal Opera House and its repertory.
