Ballo Della Regina/Live Fire Exercise/DGV - T01298670354 Each year a new generation of the most promising contemporary dancers come together as EDge to perform commissions by some of Europe’s most exciting and critically acclaimed young choreographers. Led by celebrated new Artistic Director Jeanne Yasko, EDge’s 2011 tour showcases performances by a strong and diverse ensemble of five men and seven women, all trained at the world’s most notable dance conservatoires. The programme features new full length pieces by leading international artists Ben Duke (UK), Jorge Crecis (Spain) and Martin Forsberg (Sweden) alongside other works including Jeremy James’s My Big Pants and a new short commission by Eva Recacha. Each choreographer brings their own unique approach to create contemporary dance filled with high-level energy and technical excellence that pushes the performers to their limits and leaves you on the edge of your seat.

T01509703460 (EDGE08) The touring programme will feature a world premiere from Retina Dance’s Artistic Director [Filip van Huffel], as well as several short works that have been commissioned from choreographers [Martin Forsberg], [Rachel Krische], Petra Soor and Beth Cassani. An original dance film made by Gabriela Tropia will be shown at selected venues. Jonathan Lunn’s Reading Room is a cross-discipline work incorporating text written by [Anthony Minghella] and performed by a different professional actor at each venue. The dance element of the show will be choreographed on and performed by EDge at selected venues on the Spring tour of Reading Room including the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London on 5 and 6 June. Lunn will also rework the section as a stand-alone piece, for EDge to perform as the centrepiece of its repertoire on the EDge 08 Spring Tour. In June, EDge and students from Denmark’s Skolen for Moderne Dans are joining forces with Copenhagen dance venue Dansescenen for a week of shared performances showcasing their unique partnership and the wealth of quality contemporary dance at the post graduate level. Additionally, EDge will be in residence at the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine in Angers, France in May, The Cable Factory in Finland in June and the Casa Des Artes in Portugal in July, working with local students to create new work, teaching classes and giving workshops. The company will also give performances at these venues. This year, the dancers of EDge are drawn from around the UK as well as Brazil, Spain, Korea, Luxembourg and Malaysia and are all recent graduates from the world’s finest dance conservatoires. Made up of young dancers on the cusp of their professional careers, the Company represents the very pinnacle of graduate student dance. The year the students spend in the Company forms the main part of their Postgraduate Diploma in Performance at London Contemporary Dance School, and gives them invaluable experience of rehearsing and touring as a professional company.Producer Turtle Key Arts.
