Audience members are invited to follow Melanie Jones across 5km of public parklands: walking, running, and engaging physically with the performer in an immersive dance theatre performance experience. While wearing loaned MP3 players provided by the show, audiences listen in to a rich narrative and musical soundtrack while the physical performance unfolds. With wry humour, raw physicality and poetic lyricism, Melanie Jones' newest work offers an intimate view into the mind and body of a marathon runner, and celebrates resilience - in all its forms - with a show about facing our losses while appreciating our triumphs. Using the marathon as a metaphor, the nameless central character uses running to pick up the pieces of her broken life, capturing the peaceful and obsessive-compulsive nature of sport. The soundtrack, a dreamlike and cinematic collection of songs written and performed by Scandinavian singer-songwriter Christine Owman underscores the play's script: a runner's inner monologue set to motion, exploring the thousands of thoughts that rush through a runner's head as she trains for and runs 26.2 miles.
