Four nights of breathtaking dance and theatre from five new and exciting dance companies. Antique Dances was founded in 2009 by London based dancer, choreographer and teacher Holly Noble. Antique Dances work predominantly falls within the classical and contemporary spectrum of dance and is a collaborative company working with new and innovative choreographers, musicians and artists as well as working within education, the community and youth dance. The company repertoire looks to push both the physical and mental capabilities of the dancers and to break down the limitations individuals impose on themselves. Collaboratively exploring the dancers subconscious boundaries through creative expression, movement experimentation and physical and mental exertion. Big Beef Dance Theatre was formed by Marc Dodi in 2008, Big Beef Dance Theatre aims to make Dance an accessible art form for all to enjoy. Through the presentation of four games, gaME+YOU demonstrates and discusses the interplay between relationships which we decide, and that which are decided for us. Using "The Game" by Neil Strauss and the exploration of board, card and co-ordination games as inspiration, Big Beef Dance Theatre presents an entertaining structured improvisation based upon games, placed within a game, that being the piece itself. Structured movement is taken from recognised dance duets from a range of genres such as filmic, folk, ballroom and musical. It is within these dance styles that a conscious/planned relationship is established between both performers. Music by - Vanessa Carlton, Prince, Paul Weller, Chuck Berry, The Contours, Kenny Rogers, John Travolta and Olivia Newton John, Deborah Kerr and Yul Brennar, Michael and Janet Jackson, B*witched, Billy Ray Cyrus. Collisions Dance Company - was founded by David Beer, CDC will be performing their work Inertia, which was originally choreographed as part of Collisions 2010 mixed bill 'Intertwine' which is premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, at The Zoo Roxy on the 6th-29th August 2010. Inertia refers to matters tendency when at rest to remain un-moving, or when moving in a straight-line to continue in that pathway unless influenced by an external force, social inertia is societies un-willingness to change. With all these natural and social tendencies to remain, any movement is amazing and the effortless beauty that dance creates is actually a constant battle. Set to the beguiling works of Ludovico Einaudi, this contemporary ballet by Collisions Dance Company, Artistic Director, David Beer explores various forms of Inertia and how they can influence our bodies and the bodies of those around us. Joss Arnott Dance - Under the Artistic Direction of Joss Arnott this newly formed company is beginning to establish itself into the contemporary dance scene. This highly creative and technical company strive for excellence. Focusing on whole body articulation and radical dynamic physicality, the intensity of the work highlights the technicality of the dancers. This exciting and demanding work looks at extreme physicality and what the body can achieve technically. Using innovative and unique movement vocabulary the work builds on intensity, emphasising the importance of performance working strongly with an intricate electronic and percussive score. Since showcasing its first work in LABAN's Bonnie Bird Theatre in 2009 the company has grown technically and artistically. The company look forward to future performances. Tempered Body Dance Company is a London-based dance collective, founded by Canadian choreographer Maddy Wynne-Jones. Through technical and artistic precision, the company aims to investigate the integrity and strength of the human body and the frailty of the emotional landscape. Tempered Body Dance Company has been the resident company of Chisenhale Dance Space since 2009. In 'Entangled', TBDC will be premiering 'Body Of Work', Wynne-Jones' latest choreography, co-produced by Chisenhale Dance Space. 'Body of Work' explores the epidemic of body anxiety and how it is transferred transgenerationally.
