Icelander Erna Omarsdottir graduated from Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s PARTS in 1998 and has performed with artists including Jan Fabre, Björk and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Ballet Tanz has nominated her three times as outstanding performer of the year and she also finds time to sing with her band Poni.
Teach Us to Outgrow Our Madness explores the intense relationships that exist between women living closely together: the rivalry, the secrecy, the gossip, the cruelty but also the kindness, the bonds and unconditional love. Five Nordic women possessed by a spirit harbour a terrifying secret that turns a well-mannered quintet into a Dionysian force. This piece combines dance, full-on live music and storytelling into a horrifyingly liberating experience.
