Fabulous Beast exploded onto the Irish arts scene in 1997. The company is led by Michael Keegan-Dolan, one of Ireland's most talented, challenging and innovative contemporary artists. The hit of the 2003 Dublin Theatre Festival, Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre brings a radical reworking of Giselle to the Barbican. Taking the story that inspired the ballet as its starting point, Keegan-Dolan's Giselle is transported onto a stage soaked in aggression and violence with moments of haunting tenderness. Set in the fictional town of Ballyfeeny, this is a moving two step between the forces of laughter and disaster, a grim social tragedy peopled by phoney cowboys, line dancers and ghosts.
