FEMALE VOICES brings together three exceptional international female artists from different cultures: Shringara - Journey of Desire: Asian Arts Agency presents an exceptional dancer, Seeta Patel, with the exhilarating classical Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam. In this solo work, choreographed by Mavin Koo, Seeta guides us through the fantasty world of the sacred female and the complex nuances of desire. Accompanied by live music with vocals from Pushkala Gopal. A sensory feast with exquisite costumes, intricate choreography and live music. Uruvam: Bangalore-based Hemabharathy Palani is one of India’s major new talents and winner of the prestigious Robert Bosch Art Grant, which has funded this work. A subtle portrayal of identity and unresolved desire, with delicate gestures and deep honesty, Uruvam traces the emotional impact of finding inner balance. Across the souvenir: New UK talent, Alesandra Seutin, is known for her gutsy, honest and personal style. In her new solo, a collaboration with award-winning Congolese video artist Michéle Magema, she delves into her African roots and the personal stories of African-European women. UK – India Connecting Through Culture: Pavilion Dance partners with leading dance organisation, Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, in Bangalore, to facilitate the international exchange of young choreographers. The thriving Indian dance centre has studios, a dance company, an outreach and diploma programme as well as a biennial dance festival, at which three UK artists performed, and took part in activities, in January. We welcome the three Attakkalari dancers to Pavilion Dance who are performing and leading classes.
