Guided by the artist, the audience will explore the spaces, architecture and objects in the house, which will be articulated through a range of performative, choreographic and dance actions. Feral arises from a response to the large quantities of leather and fur furnishings at home, and becomes an exploration of the body as a specimen/exhibit, both confined by and transgressive of the boundaries between human and animal. Marie-Gabrielle will lead the audience around the house, creating choreographic fragments that take place in different proximate locations around the house and which respond to different pieces of furniture and surfaces. The performance will use costume, vocal work and a highly precise, minimal and emotive choreographic language that is derived from improvisation. Through inventing characters, employing costume and elaborate props, she will play with the construct of the animal-woman and of notions of nakedness/covering and animality. This performance involves a collaboration with the composer Nick Parkin.
