Field is a space for performers to explore - being in... a controvertible space: one that refuses to prioritise interpretation before experience. To ask "What is it? Is it this or that", is pointless. The answer could always be yes or no, so it is always nothing. Here it is necessary to suspend expectation, to allow the possibility of the outside, or the other, to enter in. With this openness, this undefined and unlimited space, things resonate in correspondence. Field invites you to enter a potential space where you can explore, play or just simply be. Performers, some of whom also have a background of inclusive playwork, explore an open space of crossing trajectories, simultaneous stories and infinite possibilities. A space of several pieces happening at once - separately and not separately. Things meet, clash, collide, correspond, merge and disperse. Dedicated to Chelsea Adventure Playground which faced closure this summer after over 20 years of creating an unlimited resource for workers and children alike. The playground, under the stewardship of Penny Wilson, has become internationally known for it's unique approach and child-led creativity. A community of staff and workers has been built up over many years and many of the children later come to volunteer as young adults. The skills and techniques of the ethos which has evolved have been shared at international play conferences. Due to Penny's hard work and the defiance and dedication of the staff, the decision to close the playground has been withdrawn. For once reality prevailing. Come and celebrate, come and play.
