A collaboration between three distinguished Indian artists. Dancer and choreographer Gauri Sharma Tripathi is known for bringing a contemporary viewpoint to bear on the traditional art of Kathak, 'bringing innovation to tradition'. (Hindustan Times, February 2014). The performances of percussion maestro and composer Taufiq Qureshi showcase the traditional flavour and intricacies of Indian rhythm, interwoven with his command of contemporary world percussions. Geetika Varde is both a classical singer of the Jaipur Gharana (lineage) and a masterful experimenter. What unites these artists is a deep commitment to their classical traditions combined with a desire to take their artforms into the contemporary realm to create performances for new generations of audiences. Together on stage performing a new work created for Alchemy, they take Flight in a collaborative space of rhythms, voice and movement.
