Circa

Southbank Centre Artist in Residence Gauri Sharma Tripathi is one of the nation’s leading Kathak exponents, renowned for her beautiful and unique contemporary take on this South Asian classical dance form. Circa is a spellbinding new piece with iconographic references to the gods, which is developed from Tripathi's earlier work The Moving Root, The Cusp. A selection of Kathak dance is showcased in a striking collaboration with guru Padma Sharma, composer John-Marc Gowans, tabla maestro Sanju Sahai and composers DJ Niraj Chag and Alies Sluiter. Gauri Sharma Tripathi has choreographed for Akram Khan and Sylive Guillem and her influences range from performing with Elton John to inspiring Kylie Minogue. Queen Elizabeth Hall
