Choreographer Arthur Pita 's new full-length work God's Garden brings to life the intensity and drama of village life through dance, text and live fado music. It is based on the parable of the Prodigal Son and set in the village of Porto Moniz, Madeira, high on a hill overlooking the sea. The golden boy of the Costa family flees on his wedding day, jilting his faithful bride in order to sow his wild oats. When the prodigal son returns, his family celebrates. However, though his jilted bride's tears may water a thirsty garden, a wronged woman must take her revenge.
