The Closest - The Furthest - T01531676791UK Premiere. The Closest - The Furthest begins with an incense ceremony and cleansing ritual. The musician places her traditional Chinese instrument, a seven string GuQin, on the table in the centre of the stage and begins to play. Jin Xing tells the story of the GuQin’s thousand years of history. The GuQin’s music was used by ancient Chinese emperors as a link between mortal human beings, heavenly forces and earth-grounded strength. Just as these ancient emperors used the instrument’s voice, Jin Xing uses her body language to dance the implicit connection between earth and sky. | |
