Kala The Arts, a South Asian Dance and Music company Basingstoke presents Sangha - Indian Dance Theatre. Sangha consists of Yakshagana, a professional dance form that combines dance with music, dialogue, vibrant costumes and make-up. Culturally rich mythological tales and creative personal stories are interpreted through stunning choreography by the finest artists in the Indian classical forms of Kathak, Odissi and Kuchipudi with live vocals. Performers are locally trained students in music and dance with hair and make-up provided by Basingstoke College of Technology. The show also celebrates 30 years of Odissi in the UK, a programme initiated by Hampshire-based South Asian dance artist Sushmita Pati.
