New Work by Edouard Lock - T01244996918Leading contemporary dance group La La La Human Steps were founded in Montreal in 1980 by Edouard Lock. To mark more than 30 years of groundbreaking dance, Lock has created a new work that brings together two great tragic operas; Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and Gluck’s Orpheus and Eurydice. Set to a score by acclaimed English composer Gavin Bryars, complex dance timed to micro moments will unite two operas into one seamless ode. These performances will also feature guest Soloist Diana Vishneva, a star of the Mariinsky Ballet and one of the greatest Russian ballerinas of our time.

All this accompanied by an on-stage quartet of piano and strings playing the music of Gavin Bryars, David Lang and Blake Hargreaves. Running time approx. 1hr 45mins (no interval)Producer The Dance Consortium. Choreographer Edouard Lock. Music Gavin Bryars. Music David Lang. Music Blake Hargreaves.

T0524882092Salt - Set at a frenetic pace that never lets up, Salt is a cascading series of lyrical and intense pas de deux, choreographic phrases and sequences unfolding at the speed of thought, stimulating the senses and confounding perception. Punctuated by projected images evoking the passage of time from infancy to adolescence, four male and six female dancers distance themselves from the ground on point, "keeping their hold on this world as tenuous as that of souls', in Lock's words. Salt made its world premiere in Japan in 1997 at the Saitama Arts Theater which as welcomed some of the most prestigious contemporary dance companies including Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal and Ballett Frankfurt. The work was hailed as a 'major achievement' by the Japan Times.Choreographer Edouard Lock.
