Penombre - T01350292901French-Spanish choreographer Rosalba Torres Guerrero presents the world premiere of her first choreographic work for Belgian collective les ballets C de la B. Inspired by her travels in Japan, Pénombre (meaning ‘twilight’) is a dance-video performance which explores themes of cultural ‘otherness’. It is performed on stage by Guerrero and features maverick French illustrator and video director Lucas Racasse in video footage. Taking inspiration from Japanese literature, in which characters metamorphose and the boundaries between femininity and masculinity merge, Guerrero and Racasse make striking use of lighting, set and costume to reflect on the contrasts and commonalities between Western and Asian cultures. | |
