Split - T0296466816Dancing in flawless unison, their movement at times poised, at others animalistic, two fearless female performers demand nothing less than our full attention. Moving through the first part of their compelling duet, they instinctively navigate the terrain of a stark set to a shamanistic, looping, drum score by composer Scanner. Suddenly, a shift, as the duo pauses to divide the space and restrict the world they inhabit. Tension rises with newly introduced undercurrents of rage, conflict and control transforming the performance, opening up questions about duality as time and space diminish. With one dancer clothed, one nude, Lucy Guerin's Split lands in London as part of Dance Umbrella, having knocked the socks off audiences in Australia and around the world.Choreographer Lucy Guerin. Untrained/Australian Screendance 2 - T01686617979Four men take to the stage. Two of these men are highly skilled, experienced dancers and two aren't. All have the same complex, refined, movements to perform. Untrained questions our ideas about what is worth watching in a performance. This casual theatrical exploration presents four men, in a humorous and courageous examination of themselves and their art. Two of these men are highly skilled, experienced dancers and two have no movement training whatsoever. The complex, refined movements that one man can do with ease, another can only approximate. But there are things that an untrained body can do that a trained one can't. All performers are given the same instructions. How they execute them constructs an individual portrait of each man and also an unavoidable comparison between them. This evolution of information, built up through units of action, points out what they have in common and where their physical histories set them apart. Selection 2 of new Australian dance made for the screen will be shown after Untrained. Lucy Guerin and Stephanie Lake with Robin Fox is a double bill offering with the price of £18/?10

Untrained - T01969352662Untrained is a quirky and irreverent theatrical exploration that takes both performers and audience into a whole new undefined experience. Setting two highly skilled dancers against two men with absolutely no movement training at all - the four men are given identical instructions: to execute the same series of movements. They twirl they jump, the roll, they make faces, take off their shirts, twitch and shake, leap and flow. It's how they execute the instructions that reveals an individual portrait of each man's character. It's the evolution of information, built up through action that shows what they have in common and where their physical histories set them apart. The result is a captivating exchange of skill and goodwill, verve and virtuosity, humour and vulnerability.

Love Me - T1581674497The intimate beats of our emotional lives find mesmerising expression in these contemporary dance duets in projected environments. Choreographer Lucy Guerin seamlessly integrates the work of some of Australia's best dancers, visual artists and composers to create three finely wrought studies of love in the void. In Reservoir of Giving I and II, a live dancer and an oblivious projected partner address the spaces that exist between them. On presents fragments of two precisely connected bodies illuminated against encoded screens in a disturbing struggle for control. Melt sees two women begin a duet of icy detachment, exploring each degree emotionally and physically until they reach boiling point.
