Details

Created in 2002, during the intense media coverage of the tragic events in Soham, The Collector isolates three figures on stage - a child, a hysteric and a prostitute - to examine the violence of divided selves. Haunting film images compliment this minimal and unsettling choreography. Mutability is a stark improvised solo, inspired by Marie-Gabrielle Rotie's experiences of dancing with Butoh master Ko Murobushi, and reflects an interest in transformation - becoming animal, fish, space perhaps? Rotie deftly weaves fluid, quicksilver movement with passages of stillness. Marie-Gabrielle Rotie - The Collector/Mutability website.
