Work No. 1020 sees Creed choreograph for classically trained dancers for the first time. Using video and music composed by Creed and played by his band, the piece is performed by five dancers restricted to only using the five core classical ballet positions, all of which are ascribed a musical note. By limiting the dancers to the five positions, a tight framework is established in which to examine the changing effects of time, speed and direction. Inventive, intriguing and often humorous, Work No. 1020 is a multimedia experience that plays with our desire to find order and pattern in the world with an eloquence that is typical of Creed’s work.
