New Work 2016
Awarded an honour by the Queen for 'services to dance' in 2014, Michael Clark staggered somewhat bemused out of Buckingham Palace into an extended period of introspection. This autumn, come see the fruits of a slow rebuilding of his company, the evolution of his own dance technique, and his return to our stage as he embarks on his second decade as a Barbican Artistic Associate. Winning rave reviews for his technical rigour, experimentation, intense and fine-tuned choreography, Clark remains an innovator and defining cultural figure. He often collaborates with artists, designers, writers and musicians, introducing dance to new audiences in unorthodox settings. Michael Clark Company was the opening act of the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2015 and last performed here two years earlier with the tantalising triple bill, animal / vegetable / mineral.
