Dads and Lads Move!

Mission Possible - Dads & Lads Move! combines street, Hip Hop, physical theatre and contemporary dance to create a dynamic new showcase on the 21st-century male psyche. Under the State of Emergency umbrella, three leading black British choreographers - Jeanefer Jean-Charles, Kwesi Johnson and Colin Poole - have each created a brand new piece of dance theatre putting male relationships under the microscope. From the street to the living room, from fathers and sons to the solidarity of friendship, five male dancers play out the rituals of becoming and being a man. With a soundtrack from Curtis Mayfield to Amy Winehouse, some fiercely athletic shape-throwing from the tight-knit ensemble, and a whole new take on street dance vocabulary, Mission Possible is a sinuous celebration of male relationships. Dads & Lads Move! is State of Emergency's fifth Mission Possible national showcase tour - an established event that has helped launch the careers of many black British choreographers.
