Astonishing inventiveness, playful humour and physical beauty are the hallmarks of Momix. Since 1981 they have conjured up otherworldly imagery through the original use of props, light, music, and the human form. A spectacular mix of dance acrobatics, illusion and imagination, Opus Cactus is a sensual celebration of the natural beauty and indigenous creatures of Earth's exotic desert regions. Dance and theatre lovers of all ages will be inspired by the hypnotic whirlwind of mesmerizing movement as 10 agile dancers create a breath-taking and beautiful world inspired by the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. Opus Cactus also features puppet creations by Michael Curry, one of the creators for Disney's The Lion King. Tumbleweeds tumble, lizards leap and rattlesnakes slither as the desert landscapes dance to life. Moved by the giant saguaro cactus of the Southwest, Pendleton's catalytic choreography blossoms into indelible desert visions, from the fluttering cactus wren to the slithering human Gila monster. Featuring Momix's trademark mind-boggling and body-bending images, Opus Cactus is performed to an eclectic soundtrack that includes haunting Native American sounds, the Swingle Singers, Bach and Brian Eno.
