This year's special Festival commission features some of Oxford's new and emerging artists with brand new work. #BlackLivesMatter, juxtapose historical with modern day resistance and protest from a Black perspective, asking ?What have we learned from the past?' Working with choreographer Bawren Tavaziva (Tavaziva Dance), the piece fuses dance with the spoken word of Euton Daley creating a pulsing protest-style dance theatre piece. Critically acclaimed choreographer Richard Chappell's new duet East Coker matches a score by Samuel Hall of piano, cello and T S Elliot's words with a combination of classical ballet, martial arts, contemporary dance and improvisation. KAIHO// the state in between is a collaboration between physical theatre company Justice in Motion and Finnish Tango band Uusikuu, Through contemporary dance and vintage live music it examines the experiences and cultural identities of expat women over the past century.
