The New Adventures Choreography Award was established in celebration of Matthew Bourne's 50th birthday, and also to honour the work of his company New Adventures. The award, which is judged by Matthew Bourne and a distinguished panel, has established itself as one of the sectors most hotly sought after platforms for new choreographic talent and is a must-see for anyone who cares about the future of dance. Selected from hundreds, James Cousins is the winner of the inaugural New Adventures Choreographer Award (NACA). The evening will feature three world premieres. Cousins' There We Have Been, takes inspiration from the troubled relationships portrayed in Murakami's best selling novel, Norwegian Wood. Presenting a daringly intimate glimpse into a secluded world of fragile dependency, this touching duet sees the two performers intensely folding, wrapping and balancing, with the female character barely ever touching the floor. Everything and Nothing is a dynamic collaboration between James Cousins, lighting designer Lee Curran and set designer Colin Falconer. Through the magnifying glass of the quantum world this breathtaking production is performed to an original score fusing electronic and classical sound worlds by composer Seymour Milton. NACA runner-up Tom Jackson Greaves premieres Vanity Fowl which observes one man's journey from grace to disgrace. With a pioneering score by Peter Lyons, this intimate solo is performed by the choreographer himself.
