New Art Club was formed in 2001 by Tom Roden and Pete Shenton and is fuelled by their shared spirit of adventure. Loved by audiences and critics alike, they create work which is a unique and beautifully engineered blend of physical and verbal lunacy.Since winning the Edinburgh Spotlight Best Comedy Award for Big Bag of Boom in 2010 they have had an unbroken two years of success garnering praise from critics and audiences alike in the UK and abroad. Now you see them, now you still see them. The creators of This Is Modern and The Not Cracker bring you The Visible Men, a dance-game in which New Art Club’s collective imagination puts your imagination in a dark room, blows a whistle, pulls down its pants, kicks over a glass of red wine, forces it through a series of psycho-physical jerks, throws in a bantam cock and turns the lights on to see the results. Developed from the original idea for their 2004 Place Prize piece The Short Still Show, New Art Club creates a world of precarious logic where meaning is tossed into the air and comes crashing down around everyone’s ears. With the ingenious use of turning the lights on and off at appropriate moments, dancing around and talking, they take your expectations and gently smack them on the cheek.
