The New English Contemporary Ballet is fast gaining a reputation for sparkling virtuoso performances. Richard Wherlock’s S(c)ent, with its fluid exquisitely shaped duets and trios provides the dancers with a beautiful, lyrical platform to showcase their talent; whilst a new commission from the Italian choreographer Davide Bombana brings a distinctively neo-classical flavour to the show. Completing the bill, two young British choreographers, Jamie Thomson and Vanessa Fenton, offer contrasting takes on contemporary ballet, demonstrating that this vibrant young company are extremely versatile.
