A contemporary dance piece. In Joao's quest to appease the fury of Yansa, the storm goddess, he meets (amongst others) Oxossi, the hunter, and Oxum, the river goddess, before a final encounter with the terrifying guardians of the sought after sacred egg. "The Blast of Yansa" is an exhilarating and varied piece of dance theatre building on Brazilian popular dance and Afro-Brazilian dance traditions in a contemporary way and appealing to audiences both familiar with and unused to dance.
