Trailblazers Showcase 2017
This year's Trailblazers Showcase features the choreography of Adesola Akinleye, Ithalia Forel, and Sara Dos Santos in a triple bill of their latest work. Drawing on their distinct, individual contemporary African styles they have created an evening of personal, physically-charged dance. The Trailblazers Fellowship is an annual One Dance UK programme, designed to support the professional development of artists dedicated to DAD (dance of the African diaspora), and artists of the African diaspora. The aim is to cultivate excellence in African people's dance, by providing training and mentoring, to ensure the sustained investment in these talented individuals. Trailblazers features two strands of development, which alternate annually: Starters for first time applicants in the early stages of their careers, and Champions for past recipients of the fellowship who have demonstrated strong leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.
