Sometimes it never leaves the skin (Canada) - An autobiographical solo and physical etching of a personal journey and result of dialogues. The piece began with the choice of working with a mature dancer, choreographer Reddick asks "As dancers in our forties, what do we know in our bodies now that we did not know before? Why do we feel an innate desire to continue to dance?" The answers and stories that unfold became the seed for this piece alongside dancer Salome Diaz's personal story of being a Mexican-born woman, dancer and mother who immigrated to Canada in her mid-twenties. Flappers Miks is a Greenwich-based dance theatre collective run by Anais Bouts, Sara Lindstrom and Ida Uvaas. Miks aim to explore the edges of performance-making, creating an intimacy between performers and audience in their provocative and entertaining performances. Flappers transcends into one character's lifetime, the ethereal hysteria distinguishes no past, present or future. Flappers is the 2nd part of triple bill n+. It was generated from the first piece n+1, choreographed by MIKS. After seeing n+1 only once, choreographer Frauke Requardt came on board, taking the essence of the piece and making it hers. After They Left A woman feels that her house and its memories are too painful, so she decides to live in her garden for a while... Created through structured improvisation by both performer and composer, and using the life of Barbara Hepworth as stimulus, After They Left explores narrative, urban environments and the abstraction of emotions to immerse performer and audience in the world of this unresolved character. Silversmith Dance Theatre produces innovative and accessible dance theatre through artistic collaborations. The company’s work focuses upon human themes and narratives of a dark comedic nature, merging different movement styles with the theatrical to create thought-provoking contemporary work.
