Paul Hamlyn Hall: Floating Forest
T0
The Floating Forest - an installation of organic materials and shimmering projections - provides an epicentre and first meeting point for the weekend. Created and built by artists Dan Fern, Sophie Clements, Johannes Braun and Toby Cornish (together with students and graduates of The Royal College of Art), the Floating Forest provides a powerful, interactive space to explore and experience, as well as an atmospheric setting for a multiplicity of performances by day and night. Enhanced by Deloitte Ignite commissions - nature-inspired sound samples from the public, and ambient forest and opera-inspired soundscapes by Scanner and Matthew Fairclough - the space is punctuated throughout the day by energetic bursts of contemporary dance performances from Royal Opera House Associate Artists: Freddie Opoku Addaie, Sarah Dowling, Aletta Collins (with Phoenix Dance Theatre) and Royal Ballet dancers and choreographers.
