Phoenix Dance Company are one of the leading exponents of contemporary dance. Phoenix Dance Theatre have an international reputation for presenting inspiring, entertaining contemporary dance, performed by a formidable group of dancers handpicked from around the world. De Frutos’s work brings to the stage an evocative and passionate theatricality. The ten Phoenix dancers perform his sensual and emotionally charged choreography with unwavering technical prowess; this diverse and inspiring programme exhibiting their strength and versatility. De Frutos is also well known for his works for Rambert Dance Company, Royal New Zealand Ballet, and his choreography for Cabaret in the West End. Repertoire includes: Los Picadores, a violent, carnal approach to Stravinsky’s Les Noces; and the colourful Nopalitos, inspired by the Mexican ‘Day of the Dead’ festival.
