Phoenix Dance Company are one of the leading exponents of contemporary dance. Rui Horta creates dynamic, poetic pieces with a theatrical use of space and lighting. His choreography treads a fine line between the impact of ensemble and the individualism of solo work. Henri Oguike is known for intricate, rhythmic choreography and his instinctive translation of the moods and themes of music into exhilarating movement. Jerwood Prize winner, Maresa Von Stockert, is fast making a reputation as a young choreographer to watch. Inspired by Mr Average's daydreams and nightmares at work her surreal piece merges vivid theatricality, elaborate movement and dark humour. Phoenix's mixed bill is completed by Source, a sinuous duet by Darshan Singh Bhuller.
